September 2025 Virtual Gender Expansive Support Group Meeting

We are currently holding our Transgender + Gender Expansive Support Group meetings virtually. Our meetings are supported by an easy-to-use online meeting tool called Zoom. CLICK HERE to get set-up with Zoom.

Join us for our regular monthly meeting focused on the transgender and gender expansive community, friends, families, and allies for support and connection. There will be no formal speaker this month.

A NOTE ABOUT VIRTUAL MEETINGS:

We will be utilizing Zoom features that provide the highest level of safety and confidentiality possible.  Zoom is free to you and you need not have an account to join us.  If you are new to Zoom, you can follow the links [here] for brief tutorials on all you need to know to sign on to a Zoom meeting with us.  We ask that each of you that would like to participate in the on-line support, contact us in advance by email at rsvp@pflagmanhattanbeach.org to RSVP for the meeting.  We will cut off RSVPs at 5 p.m. on the day of the meeting.  All participants will receive a follow-up email with the link to the Zoom call and a password.  For confidentiality’s sake, please do not forward these to another participant — they are welcome to contact us directly to receive the link.

We recognize that youth may be interested in the educational part of this meeting and they are welcome to join us.  As usual, we ask that youth who may want to stick around for our support groups be joined by a parent.  Some heavy emotions can emerge in the course of our sessions and having a parent on-hand helps to ensure that the needs of any youth on the call are met.

If you need more personalized assistance and support, we remain here for you.  Email us confidentially at info@pflagmanhattanbeach.org and we will work with you to identify the best member of our team to assist with your individual needs.

From the Bathroom to the Boardroom: Challenges marginalized individuals face in family life, professional settings, and healthcare systems
Presented via Zoom by Celia Sandhya Daniels (she/they)

Celia brings an intersectional blend of ethnicity, creativity, religion, and corporate experience in her “trans-evangelism”, as she likes to call it.  Celia will share how she strives to make LGBTQ+ communities, particularly the trans community, feel welcomed and accepted in all facets of society, from the bathroom to the boardroom.

About our Speaker:

Celia Sandhya Daniels (she/they) is a visionary healthcare management leader and globally respected advocate for equity in data, health, and society. With decades of experience leading strategic programs across healthcare, life sciences, and technology for Fortune 100 companies, Celia is the Founder and CEO of Rebekon Consulting, where she champions the transformative initiative “From the Bathroom to the Boardroom.” As health equity ambassador, Celia has built trusted alliances across healthcare and clinical research, advocating for inclusive policies and equitable care delivery. Her work actively addresses the intersections of AI bias—particularly in clinical algorithms, recruitment, health tech, and data governance—where gender, race, and identity are too often overlooked. She calls for human-centered AI, rooted in dignity, transparency, and accountability. As an Asian Indian immigrant, parent, and transgender woman, Celia brings lived experience to her writing and public speaking, shedding light on the challenges marginalized individuals face in family life, professional settings, and healthcare systems in both the U.S. and India. Celia’s impact has earned her recognition as one of the Top 20 LGBTQ+ Leaders in Biopharma and among the Top 10 LGBTQ+ Voices on LinkedIn in the U.S. and Canada. She serves on the Board of Workforce Development Board, Diversity Collective, PFLAG, and Stonewall Democrats of Ventura County.

Our in person support group meetings now take place at:

allcove beach cities
514 N. Prospect Avenue
Redondo Beach, CA 90277

Meetings are now held inside of the allcove Café on the first floor of the Beach Cities Health District main building, in the hallway across from the elevators. There is plenty of free parking inside the Beach Cities Health District parking lot. Be on the lookout for the PFLAG signage to help guide you into the building.

Our PFLAG general support meetings will be held both IN PERSON and VIA ZOOM.
Virtual meeting attendees still require RSVP. If you are new to Zoom, CLICK HERE to get set-up.

The Power of Accepting Ourselves
with Shea Hultquist (they/them), LMFT

In this presentation workshop, Shea will explore with us what it means to accept ourselves and our mixed and sometimes inconvenient feelings; and will share the power we hold in offering acceptance to our LGBTQ+ loved ones.

About our Speaker:

Shea Hultquist (they/them), LMFT is a queer, non-binary licensed marriage and family therapist and runs The Unfolding Therapy Practice in Orange County focusing on LGBTQ+ young adults and their parents.

In addition to their clinical work, they lecture and facilitate workshops with Orange County and Los Angeles area PFLAG groups, school districts, and in clinical settings.

Shea's own experience as a non-binary queer parent inspires them to support parents in ways they wished their own parents had been supported when they came out. Shea is the parent of three teens/young adults in Orange County and loves hockey, taking their dogs to the dog park, and Star Wars.

We ask that youth who may want to join for our support groups to please be joined by a parent.  Some heavy emotions can emerge in the course of our sessions and having a parent on-hand helps to ensure that the needs of any youth on the call are met.

There are some benefits to utilizing new tools like Zoom. We recognize that our typical evening support group meetings are not feasible for everyone due to work, family or other demands.  If there is a need, we would like to offer an additional support group Zoom conference call sometime during the daytime hours.

There are some benefits to utilizing new tools like Zoom. We recognize that our typical evening support group meetings are not feasible for everyone due to work, family or other demands.  If there is a need, we would like to offer an additional support group Zoom conference call sometime during the daytime hours. If you are interested in a daytime support group, email us at info@pflagmanhattanbeach.org and let us know what times might be more workable for you.

If you need more personalized assistance and support, we remain here for you.  Email us confidentially and we will work with you to identify the best member of our team to assist with your individual needs.
